Last Chance Deadline - Kentucky Great River Road
(573) 427-8348 Lindsay@KYGRRO.com

The Department of Homeland Security announced on Monday that the deadline for Kentuckians to have REAL ID compatible drivers licenses had been pushed back from October 1, 2021 to May 3, 2023, giving everyone an additional 18 months to get their licenses. The DHS cited that in light of the pandemic many driver’s license offices aren’t open or working at limited capacity so it has been challenging for people to get the new compliant licenses.

In Kentucky, the state is currently in the process of moving away from Circuit Clerks issuing and renewing the licenses, moving toward a network of regional offices to hand the tasked that will be managed and staffed by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

The Paducah Regional Driver’s License office is located in the Hipp Building 2855 Jackson St, Suite 7

Though the deadline extension will be welcome news for many, state officials are still urging residents to get their new Real ID compliant licesnes as soon as they can do so comfortably, as to not clog the system as the last minute.
